Jim Bland Construction maintained its standing as a family owned company with the addition of Scott Bland as company President in 2006. Scott Bland has been involved with his father’s company since he was old enough to hold a hammer. After graduating from Baylor University, Scott worked for several years with his father in Waco before moving to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. For three years, he built homes in the Dallas area for David Weekley Homes, as well as for Highland Homes.
After the tragedy of September 11th, Scott felt the call to serve his country, and was fortunate enough to spend the next five years as a Special Agent for the United States Secret Service. As much as he valued his time with the Secret Service, the constant travel did not allow him to devote enough time to his family. The addition of a beautiful daughter to that family made the decision to retire his commission and return to Waco an easy one.
In 2012, Scott served as the President of the Heart of Texas Builder’s Association, following in his father’s footsteps as Jim served two terms as President of the Association. As President, Scott was responsible for building the 2012 Showcase Home which is located in the Stone Creek Ranch subdivision. As a result of the success of the Showcase Home and his service to the industry and Central Texas, Scott was named the Builder of the Year for 2012.
In 2016, Scott again served as President of the Heart of Texas Builder’s Association and built a beautiful Showcase Home for the 2016 Parade of Homes. During 2016, Scott worked with the Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy (GWAMA) to create a Construction Sciences Academy within GWAMA to give the students of the Greater Waco area an opportunity to become involved in the residential and commercial construction industries. For more information about the amazing GWAMA program, go to www.gwama.wacoisd.org. Scott was again named the Builder of the Year in 2016 and has been selected to serve as President again in 2017.
As Jim Bland Construction moves into a fifth decade, we are very proud of the reputation we have created and the homes we have built. We hope that you would give us the opportunity to be your partner in the building process.
